Kiva - loans that save lives

Every second month, Wholehearted proudly loans funds through Kiva, a non-profit organisation, whose mission is to connect people through lending to alleviate poverty.

Our eleventh Kiva loan is to Sandra Maria from Colombia.

This loan (and the support of other lenders) helps Sandra Maria to buy, repair, and maintain machinery for manufacturing clothing.

Sandra started her business making clothes in 2000 and currently employs three people.  Sandra Maria has a 9-year-old daughter, and she is very motivated.  Sandra wants to request a loan to buy, repair, and maintain machinery for manufacturing clothing, as one of her major hurdles in business has been the lack of capital to invest in machinery.  This support will improve her production times, assisting her to generate more work.

We invite you to join Wholehearted in offering small loans through Kiva.

Coming in 2015

I'm thrilled to share our lovely news - my husband Ante and I are expecting our first baby in June 2015!

It's been a long journey to get here and I'm super excited to see what this adventure brings. As the time nears, there will be some more news about how I'll manage Wholehearted around a newborn.

And I can't wait to hear you share some of your baby stories with me as I prepare to be a mama for first time xx

Our tenth Kiva loan is to Mahina from Tajikistan.

Mahina lives in the Gissar district with her grandmother and brother's wife. She is 25 years old. She is married, however her husband works in Russia. They do not yet have children. Mahina also works and earns a living. She has been involved in sewing women's national dresses for two years from a workspace in her home. She wants to expand her business and is planning to purchase a computerized sewing machine in order to make embroideries on dresses. Thanks to the loan, the scope of her services will expand, and the number of her orders will increase as well.

Our ninth Kiva loan is to Mehriniso from Tajikistan.

Twenty-seven year old Mehriniso has worked as a seamstress for five years and offers her sewing services out of her home. She sews different styles of dresses that she comes up with herself. She is married with one child. Mehriniso is a goal-oriented woman who has decided to expand her business. However, she sews on an old machine and the process of sewing is getting difficult for her. Because of this, she wants to purchase a new computerised sewing machine, as it will help the speed and quality of her work.

Wholehearted popping up in the Far Fetched Designs pop-up shop!

Wholehearted is super excited and proud to be a part of the inaugural Far Fetched Designs pop up shop in Yarraville, in Melbourne's inner west.  Yarraville has a wonderful community shopping village and this shop is now part of this until late August.

Far Fetched Designs brings together dozens of Melbourne-based designers into a retail space from July through to August 30.  The sunlit store is absolutely gorgeous - everything from handmade furniture to jewellery, kids decor, toys and clothing.  It's seriously hard to walk out empty handed.

Kiva - loans that save lives

Every second month, Wholehearted proudly loans funds through Kiva, a non-profit organisation, whose mission is to connect people through lending to alleviate poverty.

Our eighth Kiva loan is to Mahina Gissar from Tajikistan.

Twenty-nine year old Mahina began her own sewing business one year ago. Mahina is the main income earner of her family.  She has her own workshop, and Mahina is fundraising to increase her working capital, because she needs a new sewing machine. She has great experience in sewing and recently studied at a women's organization to acquire new business skills.
